These courses are designed to take a complete novice to the point where he or she is competent at Tiling.
SuperSkills Tiling Courses are available as stand-alone, non-qualification programmes or as part of your progression to City & Guilds Qualifications and an NVQ in Tiling.

SuperSkills Construction Training never offer courses on a "one size fits all" basis. Every client is treated individually - their personal training requirements are planned into the programme. All our instructing staff are accredited NVQ Assessors and deliver the training in accordance with the National NVQ Codes of Practice.

The course will include:
- learning about tiling tools and materials
- working safely and speedily
- selecting the right materials
- marking and measuring
- accurately cutting tiles to size
- using the correct adhesives for particular situations
- preparation techniques
- setting out and recognising the importance of design
- tiling difficult surfaces
- application of grout
- tiling around obstructions, such as power points, bathroom fittings and kitchen units
- tiling into corners and windows
- repairing and replacing damaged tiles
- specialist finishes if required
- caring for cutters, trowels and other tools
During your course you will gain knowledge about using a range of tools and how they assist your work as a Tiler :
- Hand operated and electric tile cutters
- Tile nippers
- Tile files
- Contour guages
- Adhesive trowels for wall and floor tiles
- Drills and hole cutters
- Spirit levels
- Mixing equipment
By the end of this five day intensive course you will have undertaken a range of tiling tasks, which replicate all those involved in tiling kitchens, bathrooms and toilets, using both wall and floor tiles as appropriate.
You will have tiled into and around internal and external corners, taken account of profiles, created arches and patterns in tiles and covered uneven surfaces.
You will also have learned about using cutting equipment and adhesive application trowels and the processes involved in keeping them in perfect condition. The step-by-step approach we adopt will ensure you understand each of the tools used, the properties of various materials and the techniques required to achieve a quality result.
If you are taking the course as part of a City & Guilds qualification, the necessary evidence required to support your achievements will be recorded and placed in your portfolio.

After your Tiling course, you will be able to access unlimited support, free of charge, to make sure you can deal with any problems you encounter. All you have to do is call and we will talk you through the problem.
You will be able to undertake painting and decorating with confidence - and many people have gone straight from our five day course to start earning their living. However, we never claim to turn people into fully qualified Tilers in such a short time. Our clients who are developing a business based on our training tend to return for further training on our advanced programmes and complete all the units of accreditation to complete their City & Guilds qualification.
Please note - there is a real difference between training providers like SuperSkills, which is accredited by the construction industry's awarding bodies, inspected by Ofsted and contracted to provide training by the Skills Funding Agency, the Department for Work & Pensions and our local secondary schools - and the small providers who make claims about their training that simply do not bear scrutiny.

Unless you have been a Tiler for at least five years - which qualifies you to be assessed for NVQ's through practical assessment - a service SuperSkills is accredited to provide, you cannot get an NVQ unless you are assessed in the workplace.
